Sounds Of The Universe record shop is neatly tucked away in the heart of London’s Soho. Owned by prestigious record label Soul Jazz Records, the shop has become a treasure-trove for cross-cultural, non-mainstream music – everything from jazz, soul, african, post-punk, hip-hop, reggae and beyond.
Starting off as a humble record stall in Camden, 25 years later this infamous record emporium has become the go-to place for the likes of Prince, Gilles Peterson, Questlove, Kieran Hebden, Robert Plant, Theo Parrish, Jamie Cullum, Moodymann, Adrian Younge and lots more!
Furthermore, the shop has become a community hub hosting film-screenings and in-store events from the likes of Mo Kolours, Dam-Funk, Lone, Hieroglyphic Being, Illum Sphere, Andrew Ashong, Mr Thing, Alexander Nut as well as the annual roadblock affair where the SOTU soundsystem rocks a crowd of thousands on Broadwick Street!
